Workshops offered:
An Approach to Working Somatically with Trauma
Trauma is stored in the body and it is understandable that in order to process the ongoing effects of trauma, an integrated body/brain approach is necessary. It can be difficult to make sense of trauma for clients and help them shift through the stages of trauma-focused therapy.
In this experiential workshop, participants will develop their understanding of trauma and enhance how they work with clients who have experienced trauma. The practical and interactive workshop offers a range of awareness and sensory modulation tools to aid in the development of introspective intelligence, resilience, emotional processing skills and safe grounding when working with people who have experienced trauma.
Participants will take home skills and resources they can immediately start to use, and the ability to co-construct a
coping kete with clients.
We will discover:
Rhythmic Resourcing - using bio-rhythm to support clients and help them re-engage with their bodies
Trauma can leave clients feeling out of synch with their bodies. The body becomes a foreign concept and does not feel like it belongs with them any more. Through the use of rhythm and vibration, reinforced with touch clients are able to develop skills to self-soothe and to re-engage with their body, reclaiming it for themselves.
In this hands-on workshop, participants will engage in exercises developed to reconnect with their own heart-beat rhythm. You will be able to apply these techniques with clients immediately, and discover how you can resource your clients through rhythmic pulse exercises that help regulate a dysfunctional autonomic nervous system. You will also discover techniques you can use with clients to help them non-verbally externalise their narrative while building social engagement.
